A shared sense of family and community has Davidsons teaming up with one of Geelong’s most trusted and respected organisations, genU.

The former Karingal St Laurence was renamed genU (short for Generation You) in 2017 and with the name change came a new ambition: to become the leader in what they do.

GenU has many services but their Inclusion program was a perfect fit for Davidsons to be involved with and in particular the business member volunteering day program. The program runs at various times throughout the year with the first one kicking off in March 2019 at Melaluka Respite House.

Melaluka is a purpose-built respite house that opened in 2012. Melaluka caters to five individuals at any one time whose families seek respite from their caregiving role, a role that can be highly demanding and stressful.

The brief on the day was to assist with rolling out grass and planting seedlings throughout the newly upgraded outdoor area which includes seated areas, accessible pathways and a sensory garden.

Two of Davidson’s team members, Gerry Burgess and Evangeline Vicary went along on the day and formed part of twenty five willing volunteers, all from various companies and businesses around Geelong, to complete the works required.

Our volunteers reported back that it was a very successful and rewarding day with all works completed ahead of time. It was wonderful to be involved in this project knowing that so many people will benefit from it.
